Frequently Asked Questions
Reflective fabric is a textile backing coated with a layer of reflective micro glass beads. The glass beads return light toward their source (retro-reflection) such as headlights or a flashlight at night.
The backing fabric, stretch, wash rating, and flame resistance differ by grade, but the retro-reflective principle is the same across all our refletive fabrics.
Our reflective fabric can be directly sewn onto all kinds of fabrics and garments, and can be easily die-cut, hand-cut, or guillotined cut into different shapes.
To ensure secure bonding to the garment, we recommend to use a double-thread lockstitch sewing method, with no more than 5 stitches per centimeter and a minimum distance of 2 millimeters from the edge of the reflective fabric.
To best preserve reflective fabric's retro-reflectivity, we recommend using a machine wash at a maximum of 60°C with standard detergent (no bleach). Keep drying below 50°C and iron at medium heat without steam.
The actual service life of the reflective fabric will depend on the cleaning method and wear conditions.
EN ISO 20471 is the European high-visibility clothing standard; ANSI/ISEA 107 is its North American high-visibility clothing standard. The standard requires a minimum RA of 330 cd/(lx·m²).
